What is Acupuncture and Asian Medicine?

Acupuncture is the practice of applying sterile hair-thin needles into specific points in the body to help with its own healing process.

It is well recognized in Western medicine for its ability to help with pain (Orthopedics).

It is also known for its ability to help with the body’s proper physiological function and help patients with many common symptoms that doctors are faced with in their day to day practice.

Asian medicine looks at the body as an environment. If there is an imbalance within that environment pain and ill-health follow. Similar to what we think of in Western Medicine, when we talk about Homeostasis or proper PH balance for cell growth and organ function.

A Licensed Acupuncturist uses a complex system of diagnostic methods that takes into consideration the person as a whole, discerning the body's pattern of disharmony rather than isolated symptoms.

The aim is not only to eliminate or alleviate symptoms, but more importantly to treat the underlying cause, increase the ability to function, and improve the quality of life of the patient.
